York Unlimited: Being a ˿Ƶ for Public Good

Fund scholarships and projects at York

Give time

Volunteer to support students and alumni

The ˿Ƶ was endowed with especially powerful values at our foundation 60 years ago.

Our founding ideas of combating inequality, championing social justice and advancing opportunity for all, continue to drive our work today.

Those founding values are now summarised in a simple phrase: the ˿Ƶ exists for public good.

By working in partnership with donors around the world, volunteers and our global alumni community we can make a positive impact on society.

Whether you consider yourself a donor, a philanthropist or an investor, we want to turn your giving into impact.

Donations to support the ˿Ƶ’s core mission are used to advance knowledge, research and access to education ,all of which make York a ˿Ƶ for Public good.

For the Public Good

Written by English and Related Literature student Emily Thorington, For the Public Good was originally composed to mark the Inauguration of Dr Heather Melville OBE as the ˿Ƶ's seventh Chancellor in January 2023. This version was recorded for the ˿Ƶ's summer graduation celebrations in July 2023.

Removing Gaps in Opportunity

Removing all gaps in access, success, award and progression for students, whatever their background.

Health and Wellbeing

A Sustainable and Equitable World

Creating sustainable change that directly benefits communities around the world.

Entrepreneurial and Responsible leadership

Shaping the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

I am truly humbled by the enduring generosity of the ˿Ƶ’s philanthropic community. The ˿Ƶ owes its foundation to the encouragement, inspiration and financial support of hundreds of donors, ranging from individuals through to the largest national institutions.
